Paraíso
Paraíso Latin American Art Fair showcases extraordinary new Latin American art practices along with art produced over the last hundred years during London’s October art week in a central location.
Paraíso is an initiative by Javier Calderón, founder and director of Somers Gallery, and who, for over 15 years, has championed Latin American Art in the UK and British art in Latin America.
Paraíso’s mission is to create new levels of collaboration between Latin American communities and the world.
PARAÍSO is a new Latin American art fair debuting in London from 15 to 18 October 2026 at Ambika P3, conceived not simply as an event, but as a collaborative platform for the long-term visibility, circulation, and professional strengthening of Latin American art. Structured through a series of interrelated programmes, the fair seeks to create a meaningful meeting point between Latin America, the United Kingdom, and the wider international art world.
At its core, PARAÍSO has been developed as a platform built through collaboration. From its inception, the project has invited relevant figures from the Latin American art ecosystem in London to contribute to the shaping of a fair. This collaborative approach is central to its vision: to build not only a moment of visibility, but an ecosystem of support capable of sustaining the fair’s relevance, quality, and growth over time.
The fair’s structure reflects that ambition. Its Gallery Programme will bring together 25 galleries from Latin America or representing Latino artists, creating a space that supports both emerging and established figures within the field. Selection is guided by a committee of curators and art professionals, ensuring rigor, quality, and a thoughtful representation of Latin American art within the context of the UK. We are bringing together contemporary practices and historically significant works from the last hundred years.
This curatorial and commercial dimension is expanded through a Public Programme of talks, live performances, workshops, gastronomy, and music, designed to situate Latin American art within a wider cultural conversation. PARAÍSO understands that building a stronger ecosystem requires more than market visibility alone; it requires encounter, interpretation, exchange, and the active formation of audiences. In this sense, the fair positions itself as a site where cultural dialogue and professional networks can unfold in parallel.
A key element of this wider vision is the Guest Country Programme, which will spotlight a different Latin American country in each edition. For the inaugural fair, Mexico will be the invited country. Alongside this, Editions & Publications and Artist’s Interventions broaden the fair’s scope by incorporating non-profit initiatives, editions, works on paper, and specially commissioned or site-responsive presentations by early-career artists across our venue.
PARAÍSO is also strategically positioned in time and place. The fair takes place during Frieze Week, one of the most important moments for contemporary art in London and one of the key dates in the international art calendar. A time when the city draws major collectors, curators, advisors, and market professionals from around the world. Its location is equally significant: Ambika P3 is situated in Marylebone, one of central London’s most active and relevant neighbourhoods, and just minutes away from Frieze. Housed in a remarkable post-industrial venue with a strong history of exhibitions, installations, and large-scale cultural projects, PARAÍSO enters London through a site and a moment of exceptional visibility, reinforcing its ambition to become a new platform for Latin American art.
PARAÍSO welcomes enquiries, proposals, and opportunities for collaboration. Conceived as an open platform, the fair is committed to fostering dialogue, partnership, and new connections around Latin American art.
