Malu Laet is a multidisciplinary artist based in New York City. Working across sculpture, installation, video, performance, sound, and interactive technologies, her practice explores the relationship between technology and magic.

Drawing from media archaeology, speculative fiction, ritual practices, and computational culture, Malu creates immersive worlds inhabited by avatars, artefacts, and magical technologies. Through custom-built interfaces, immersive stagings and narrative systems, she investigates how virtual realities are captured, embodied, and contested. Her current body of work, WYRMDIE, combines the ancient dragon (“wyrm”) with the silicon core of a microchip (“die”), following cyber-dragons through mythic-digital landscapes and expanding an evolving techno-mythological universe.

Malu holds a BFA from Central Saint Martins, an MFA in Computational Arts from Goldsmiths, University of London, and an MFA in Fine Arts from Pratt Institute. In 2024, she presented her first solo exhibition, Sally’s World, at Somers Gallery in London. Her work has been presented internationally in New York, London, Berlin, and Rio de Janeiro, including projects and exhibitions at Gossamer Fog, Kupfer 213 Projects, Harvestworks, Flux Factory, Rio Cinema, and CTM Festival.
